The Mohegan Patrol - Provisional Camping

Attend With Your Troop

Most Scouts will attend summer camp with their troop. Contact your Scoutmaster for details about when your troop is planning to attend Camp Wanocksett this summer. When attending with your troop, the troop will handle the processing of all reservations and payments.

No Troop…No Problem!

Treasure Valley recognizes that not every Scout comes to camp with their unit, and some want to come back for another week! Scouts are welcome to come on their own without their unit as a “provisional”. We put all of  these Scouts together in a unit called The Mohegans! They stay together and by the end of the week it’s as if they have been together since the start of their Scouting journey. Our fun and engaging college-aged staff members act as their adult leaders during the week, and ensure that Scouts are taken care of throughout the week. Scouts that come provisionally are strongly encouraged to take part in the respective specialty week described below.

Specialty Week Programs

These are programs that you cannot find at every Scout Camp. They are for the Scouts that may not want the standard camp experience. They may not want to just take merit badge classes. These programs offer new experiences, some exclusive to the Scouts in these programs. Some of them require a higher level of commitment, but Scouts are rewarded with experiences that they will never forget and that they can’t get elsewhere. Treasure Valley has something for everyone!

Specialty Week programs are week-long programs that combine traditional program features of Scouts, BSA Resident Camp, combined with added intensive programs available only during those weeks. The Specialty Week program is a feature of The Mohegan Patrol experience and registration will be first-come-first-serve with a priority to these provisional campers.

Check-In

Provisional campers arrive at camp on Sunday at 11:30AM. They will meet Provisional Scoutmaster and his assistant who will help campers load gear into a camp vehicle. Gear will be transported to the campsite once everyone has arrived.

Merit Badge/Class Registration

It is assumed that Provisional’s are participating in the Specialty Week program. If they are not, they should notify camp administration upon registration. If Provisional’s are taking other merit badge classes instead, they can register for them in advance online before camp.

Specialty Week programs are run by volunteers who provide additional program on top of the existing camp program during the week of camp specified. Volunteer program facilitators will use traditional blue cards or physical certifications to impart completed requirements completed for programs not regularly offered at camp.
