University of Scouting 2024

CT Rivers Council is hosting University of Scouting 2024 on Saturday March 9th. An educational forum for Scouting leaders of all experience, it is open to guests from all BSA councils. It offers a broad range of courses and workshops tailored for new unit leaders and seasoned Scouting veterans, and presents an opportunity to network with other volunteers.

Fishing Basics for Leaders and Youth

This training is for adults and youth* 15 years of age or older that will prepare Cub Leaders and possible Camp Counselors for the new Cub Scout Fishing Program Changes that take effect on June 1, 2024. Must be registered members of the BSA to participate. 

Mandatory Training Policy

The Heart of New England Council has adopted a Mandatory Training Policy requiring all registered leaders to be fully trained for their leadership position. Registered adults who are not compliant at the end of the transition period will be suspended from all Scouting activities. Learn more by clicking the article title.

NEW! Adult Application Process Revised

Effective March 4, 2024, the BSA is changing the adult application process to require that the results of the Criminal Background Check (CBC) must be received BEFORE the new adult volunteer can assume a leadership role. Click to read the complete announcement.

BSA Membership Fee UPDATE

Effective April 1, 2024, the BSA will eliminate the $25.00 dollar one time joining fee for new program participants in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scouting. Read the announcement from our council key 3 to learn more.
