It is with great pleasure that Heart of New England Council announces the selection of William Dunbar for the role of Senior District Executive for Quinsigamond District.
William is a high-achieving and personable executive with a strong background in social work and 17 years of leadership experience with the Boy Scouts of America. William previously served as the Field Director for the Mayflower Council and in Executive roles with Old Colony and Pioneer Valley Councils.
William brings a successful track record of establishing, nurturing and maintaining relationships with a diverse pool of volunteers, creating communication aids, establishing program goals and objectives for new and existing scouts and their parents, and building relationships with foundations that have lead to successful funding contributions including a $25k gift from the Yawkey Foundation. He has recruited and trained new adult volunteers while continuing to inspire and develop current leaders especially with strategies in dealing with youth issues.
William has built and sustained many positive relationships with clients, schools, courts and other agencies while maintaining a very high degree of professionalism and community confidentiality when needed. This includes a relationship with the City of Brockton public schools for a program that provides environmental education to elementary school students in a remote outdoor setting.
In his new role, William will be responsible for strengthening and guiding the Quinsigamond team with strategies that will take the district from sustainable to thriving and successful.
William earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and also in Regional Planning from Westfield State University. He is an Eagle Scout and a Leave No Trace Master Educator.
